Catching and leading horses are the initial uses for which the product is being marketed by inventor and owner Magloc Ltd. This is a new innovative device which enables one-handed, instant connection of lead rope to headcollar. Release is another smooth, one-handed operation. However, Magloc Equi-SR is an attachment device that has endless equine applications and beyond. Uses are obvious whenever a connection needs to be made – and in the case of horses, the quicker, more easily and safely that happens, the better. So it can be used as extra security on stable doors, field gate catch, hanging haynets, connecting bits to bridles, attaching trailer breeching straps, or rug straps etc… all one-handed.
A magnet inside the neat metal casing attracts one part to the other – and they simply snap together. It even works in the dark while wearing thick gloves because Magloc Equi-SR finds its own connection. As the device is cylindrical, it doesn’t even need to be positioned precisely like, say, a seat belt fastening. And, like a seat belt, it also releases under load – what’s known as ‘positive release ’. Horses can safely be tied up with a Magloc Equi-SR. If the horse if spooked, panics and pulls back, it will release under a 100kg breaking strain – that’s slightly less than a single strand of baling twine. Magloc Equi-SR isn’t just another safety release gadget. It’s a piece of precision engineering, its component parts and breaking strain tested under laboratory conditions and carrying a year’s manufacturer’s guarantee. Magloc Equi-SR can be produced in a variety of sizes and colours, so could replace virtually any buckle, billet stud, spring or trigger clip or other fastening. This is a wonderful tool for people with dexterity problems, such as arthritic hands or other disabilities.

The Magloc Equi-SR will be made available under licence to other manufacturers and/or distributors, as well as offered in its existing format to retail stockists. A patent application has been filed.
The retail price per unit is around £24.99, although consumers need not buy multiple complete units. ‘Male’ parts can be left on, say, numerous head collars with just one ‘female’ part used to catch all the horses in turn. Should the ‘safety release’ happen, an inexpensive split pin simply needs replacing. A dog version will be available later this year. Magloc K9-Solo enables one-handed attachment of lead to collar and equally easy release. It saves bending down so far to reach the dog’s collar, and as the Magloc is applied, the attachment even rises up from long hair to be more easily found. To visit Magloc’s website please click here
