The HAYGAIN horse hay steamers are proudly made in Great Britain to the highest specification, using cutting-edge technology and thermally efficient plastic composites. Steam is generated from the stable of Propress portable steamers.
HAYGAIN hay steamers are available in three models: the HG-1000 designed to steam a full bale and the HG-500 for a half bale, wedges or hay nets. The HG-GO is a fully collapsible bag that will accommodate half a bale of hay or large hay net, it is ideal to take to shows. All units steam hay thoroughly and evenly in less than 50 minutes.
The HAYGAIN HG-1000 steams an entire strung hay bale. It is thermally insulated and sealed to maintain the high temperatures (in excess of 100 degrees Centigrade) critical to kill all harmful fungal spores (and other living organisms such as mites) as well as bacteria in hay from a variety of sources such as foxes, rats, mice, chickens, cats, dogs, etc. This effectively sterilizes whilst maintaining the hay's nutritional value, resulting in a totally dust- and spore-free palatable forage, which is also more digestible. HAYGAIN's unique method enables steam to penetrate the centre of the bale and diffuse outwards ensuring even steaming throughout.
The lid is angled to minimise lifting of the bale and is assisted by traction struts for ease of use. The unit is mounted on heavy duty wheels with a guiding handle for manoeuvrability. A built-in thermometer ensures accurate readings of the necessary temperatures. All fittings are in stainless steel. All HAYGAIN hay steamers are designed to be left outside.
A steam cycle takes approximately 50 minutes; depending on the density and weight of the full bale, the second taking approximately 35 minutes. The steam generator water capacity is sufficient for two steaming cycles.
The HAYGAIN HG-500 steams half a bale, or the equivalent in hay nets, or wedges of hay from large round or square bales. It features a five-prong steam manifold which penetrates the centre of the hay, allowing the steam diffuses outward as above.
A steam cycle takes approximately 35 minutes from cold. The steam generator water capacity is sufficient for three steaming cycles.

Both HAYGAIN hay steamers can be operated with independent run-back and cycle wall timers.
All HAYGAIN hay steamers are designed to be left outside.
They're so easy to use... fill up the independent steam boiler with tap water, which rapidly generates steam. Place your hay on the manifold spikes and close the lid. Steam travels through the unique aluminum pressure die cast steam distribution manifold and steams outwards throughout the bale, ensuring total absorption. After the end of the indicated cycle, the wonderfully-smelling, palatable and completely hygienically-clean hay is ready to be fed to your horses.

The HAYGAIN HG-GO will be launched this spring. It is insulated with multi layer construction for maximum thermal efficiency ensuring the necessary high temperatures are reached without any heat loss. Non-rip material for strength and durability. 600mm in diameter x 850mm in height gives the HG-GO a generous 200 litre capacity for the hay. Collapsible design, the HG-GO is compact, portable, easy to fold down and takes up minimal space to either pack in the lorry or store away until the next show. Patented steam distribution manifold ensures the steam evenly penetrates all of the hay. Handles made from heavy grade, double stitched nylon webbing for durability make it easy to carry and tip-up to empty. Separate quick release fitting so the steam generator is easily detached from the main body during transit or storage. 5 litre steam generator (2KW) provides plenty of steam and is easily run of a generator at shows.
